It's a WHOLE HAND kinda day

Today is Nico's 5th birthday!!  I can't believe he is already 5 years old.  He has been counting down to this day for quite some time.  It has been a succession of birthdays in Casa Juan since Sofia's birthday in November.  He uses the order of birthdays to count down to his...1st Sofia, then Camilo, then Adan, then Mama, then Pablo, then Jesus...then NICO!! He also been super excited since Daddy told him that at 5 years old, he is finally a whole hand!  Last night when I put him to bed he said "Mama, tomorrow I will be a whole hand!"  And that he is :)
Our birthday morning will give you a little insight into my little man.  Last night he insisted he wanted "breakfast in bed" for his birthday.  Of course he found his way to my bed around 3am and I found myself sharing a pillow with the little fireball once again.  At 6:30 he was ready for cartoons & breakfast.  I convinced him to go back to sleep until 7:15 when he again insisted upon cartoons, candy and breakfast in bed.  His breakfast order: eggs, toast and bacon.  I headed to the kitchen to make his special breakfast and he insisted on coming with me...couldn't wait for me to bring it to him.  Then insisted on eating it right away, again couldn't wait to take it back to bed. Then changed his mind after I made the eggs, didn't want them.  Didn't like my fried ham disguised as bacon and had more fun buttering the toast than eating it.  By 8:30 he was dressed and ready to play outside.  The whole breakfast thing just took way too long!
This is a good picture of every day with my little man.  He is on high speed all the time, full of energy, easily distracted, full of adventure, ideas and wild comments.  His current favorite saying is "Totally Wicked!!"  He certainly keeps us on our toes.  On the rare occasion that he does slow down, he is an awesome cuddler and a sweet mama's boy.  I enjoyed retelling the story of his adoption to him this morning.  The way we chose his name, it's meaning and how Sofia and I remember that first day we met him.  It was pure joy to watch his eyes light up as we talked about him and I encouraged him to seek God and the plan He has for his life.  Parenting 10 is insanity at times and I often struggle with worry about all that I am not giving, especially to my wee ones.  I am so thankful that God sees Nico's whole life beginning to end, that He has a plan for him and I get a front row seat. Nicolas means "victory of the people".  Won't you pray for my little man today? I know the Lord has a special purpose for his life, one that includes victory not just for him but others as well.  I LOVE THAT!!!
